Additional Meta Tags:

There are other meta tags, but those mentioned above are the most important regarding search engine spidering. Additional information that may be found between the <head> and </head> tags are (but not limited to):

<META name="robots" content="NOINDEX">
Most search engine spiders will read and obey the NOINDEX robots tag. The "NOINDEX" command tell the search engines to NOT index this page in their search results. Make sure this tag is not present within the <HEAD> and </HEAD> tags if you want the page indexed.

The robots meta tag can have different commands such as "INDEX,FOLLOW" (for those pages you do want indexed and spidered). Note: There are many pages indexed on the engines today that do not utilize the INDEX,FOLLOW robots tag. However, there are very few pages indexed on the engines with the NOINDEX tag present.

<META name="author" content="Your name here">

Not used by search engines. Simply states the author of the site or whatever else someone would like to make claim to authoring.

<META name="revisit after" content="14 days">
This command tells the search engines to revisit and re-spider your site in 14 days. It's up for debate whether the engines actually obey this command, most likely they do not.
